Sunshine Health Executives Recognized By Community
SUNRISE, Fla., Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine Health, a subsidiary of Centene Corporation, was built on a foundation of public service and a commitment to giving back to local communities where its members and their families reside. Community service is not only a companywide philosophy, it is expected that all senior leadership give back to the community. Sunshine Health's visibility in the community has increased in recent years, which is evident by the number of Sunshine Health employees who not only serve in leadership positions on community boards, but who also volunteer their time in various other community based activities.
Sunshine Health COO, Jason Delimitros was recently elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes/Broward Division. The March of Dimes is committed to helping mothers have full-term, healthy pregnancies and research solutions to health issues that threaten a baby's health and development. "It was an honor to be chosen to lead the March of Dimes/Broward Division's Board of Directors, an organization that I am passionate about and have worked with for the last several years," said Jason Delimitros, COO. "The goal is to provide the necessary resources to ensure better outcomes for mothers and babies. Positive outcomes are not only good for the patients involved, but save the state a great deal of money."
Sunshine Health Vice President of Long Term Care, David Wagner was recently selected as Chairman of the YMCA of Pembroke Pines Board of Directors and invited to serve on the YMCA of Broward County's Board of Directors. The YMCA is committed to strengthening the community by addressing critical gaps in health and education. "I am proud to be part of the good work that the YMCAs of Broward County and Pembroke Pines are doing in the community each and every day," said David Wagner, Vice President of Long Term Care. "The YMCA provides a save haven for our youth to play, learn, and be mentored during a critical time in their growth and development. Additionally, the YMCA is dedicated to promoting senior health with programs like silver sneakers and health seminar clinics to ensure that Florida's seniors have the resources they need to age gracefully."
Mary Garcia, Vice President of Compliance was recently named Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami Dade. Mary has served on the Board for more than two years. "It is critical for a child to start their life on the right foot – healthy, loved, well-nourished, and well nurtured," said Mary Garcia, Vice President of Compliance. "The Healthy Start Coalition makes this possible by giving these children a chance to thrive in their early years."
Sunshine Health's community service footprint extends far beyond its senior leadership and this dedication is evident in its first annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report.
