SUNRISE, Fla., March 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine Health, a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, has expanded its operations in Maitland to continue providing personalized, local healthcare for its rapidly growing membership in Florida.
A grand opening was held this week for the expansion's second phase, a 25,000-square-foot customer service center at 30 S. Keller Road. It will house more than 200 skilled and diverse customer service representatives, with room for 300.
"Just two years ago, we had 18 customer service representatives in Maitland to complement our existing customer service center in Sunrise," said Chris Paterson, CEO of Sunshine Health "Now we have 200 in Maitland, which is emblematic of Sunshine Health's rapid growth. More importantly, it supports our commitment to providing our members with exemplary service to help them navigate the healthcare system."
The first phase at 70 S. Keller Road opened in November and includes 53,000-square-feet of office space for Sunshine Health's clinical, network and operations teams. In total, the expansion can accommodate 550 employees.
The customer service representatives, of which half speak Spanish, assist Sunshine Health's more than 800,000 members with questions about their health plans and benefits. They help members find primary care physicians or specialists; connect them to resources to manage chronic medical conditions; even schedule appointments. They also assist Sunshine Health's physician partners with any questions or issues that arise in the coordination of members' care.
Sunshine Health offers government-sponsored managed care services through Medicaid, Long Term Care, Medicare and Florida's Health Insurance Marketplace. Additionally, the company offers a specialty Medicaid health plan for children in or adopted from Florida's Child Welfare system and a full pay Healthy Kids plan.
"We believe it's important for our employees to live in the same state as our members to facilitate the delivery of culturally competent healthcare. We keep the jobs local," said Nathan Landsbaum, Sunshine Health's Chief Operating Officer. "This perfectly aligns with our mission to provide local, personalized healthcare to help people get and stay well and to transform the communities we serve."
