SunRun Seeks Largest Home Electric Bill in California
SunRun contest offers free solar power to ease burden of high utility bills
SAN FRANCISCO, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SunRun, the nation's leading home solar company, today announced the Battle of the Bills, a contest to find the largest residential electric bill in California. The winning homeowner will receive free solar power.
"We're providing relief for families who want to keep electricity costs down," said SunRun Co-founder and President Lynn Jurich. "Even after cutting back on energy use and putting energy efficiency improvements in place, many homeowners still face high bills. SunRun offers clean power and low, predictable rates, and we're excited to deliver free solar to the winning California homeowner."
Homeowners can enter their bills at www.sunrunhome.com/highestbill.
SunRun will offer a Battle of the Bills Grand Prize of 20 years of free solar to the contestant with the largest June utility bill in California. In addition, five first prize winners will receive $1,000 off SunRun solar power service and five runners up will receive $500 off SunRun solar power service.
"Even though solar makes economic sense for more and more Americans, we find that a lot of people still don't consider it," said SunRun Vice President of Marketing, Bill Stewart. "This contest is a great way to make people more aware of how much they can save with solar. If the alternative is perpetual high bills, why not enter?"
SunRun owns, installs, and maintains home solar panels so families don't have to pay $30,000 or more for them. Homeowners lock in low solar electricity rates for 20 years, protected from unpredictable utility rate increases. The company installs more than $1 million in solar every day.
In the words of SunRun customer Cookie Bretz-Smith now that she's made the switch, "I'm guilty of being madly in love with SunRun and my utility bill."
