Sunbelt Business Advisors On Track for Record Sales in 2017
Minneapolis-based business broker reports major growth in business seller and buyer activity
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives from Sunbelt Business Advisors confirmed they have achieved a record year in 2017, aligning with national trends in small to mid-market mergers and acquisition activity. In addition to adding eight new employees and doubling its office space, the business broker reported the total number of transactions completed by the firm has risen by 25% year over year. Sunbelt management also reported that inquiries from buyers seeking companies to acquire surged by 30% in late 2016 to more than 400 requests per month, an average that has been sustained over the course of 2017.
"We're seeing an increase in Mainstreet activity from individual buyers seeking to run their own businesses combined with companies focused on strategic growth through acquisition," said Chris Jones, Managing Partner for Sunbelt Business Advisors. "Factors like the availability of money, an aging population of business owners and a bullish market are driving up interest from both buyers and sellers. We've also seen a big uptick in the average deal size for both Mainstreet and company acquisitions." Jones added that many of their small to mid-sized businesses for sale within the Minnesota market were experiencing three to five offers.
A study conducted in the second quarter of 2017 by IBBA, the International Business Brokers Association, reported several generational shifts as a major factor in the surge of small and mid-market business merger and acquisition activity. The IBBA study found that retirement led as the top reason to sell a business.
