Sun Trolley to Participate in Fort Lauderdale's 2016 St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Irish eyes will be smiling as the Sun Trolley, once again, gets ready to participate in the Annual Fort Lauderdale St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival. The 2016 St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2016, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
"Each year we look forward to decking out our red and yellow trolley in St. Patrick's Day décor for the parade," said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Sun Trolley. "This year we are looking forward to partnering with Everglades Holiday Park (home of Animal Planet's "Gator Boys" Alligator Rescue)."
Staff members and volunteers from both the Sun Trolley and Everglades Holiday Park will be onboard the trolley waving and handing out treats and treasures as the trolley passes by the thousands of parade bystanders.
Las Olas Boulevard is sure to be awash in green as parade goers of all ages wear their favorite green garb and watch marching bands, the Sun Trolley, decorative floats and the Pipe and Drum Corps. stroll along the parade route from SE 5th Avenue to Riverfront.
In addition to the parade, there will be plenty of additional festivities to enjoy including the Celtic 4 Miler, a four-mile run featuring thousands of runners clad in green racing down Las Olas Boulevard, as well as the St. Patrick's Festival, from 10 a.m. until 7:00 pm at Huizenga Plaza and along the Riverwalk. Highlights will include live bands, Irish dancers, interactive entertainment, and cultural attractions. Featured performers include: Celtic Bridge, Kelly School of Irish Dance, American Legion Symphonic Band, Aranmore Academy of Irish Dance, Fineans, Ciaran Soden Irish Singers, Drake School of Irish Dance, and more! The Sun Trolley is a free "Wave 'n' Ride" service. Passengers simply wave at the driver from anywhere along the route to board and then let the driver know when they would like to disembark.
