Sun Trolley Extends Service on Monday, July 4, 2016 for the City of Fort Lauderdale's 4th of July Spectacular presented by Zimmerman Advertising
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sun Trolley is making it easier than ever to have a fun, stress-free Independence Day weekend by extending service hours. The Sun Trolley's Beach and Las Olas Links will operate on an extended schedule on Monday, July 4, 2016, providing a connection to the City of Fort Lauderdale's 4th of July Spectacular presented by Zimmerman Advertising.
The 4th of July Spectacular is a family-friendly event featuring fireworks, live music, beach games and more! To help families avoid beach traffic, the Sun Trolley is offering cost-effective services to the event on its Beach Link and Las Olas Link trolleys.
On Monday, July 4, the Beach Link and Las Olas Link will operate on an extended schedule from 9:30 a.m. to 12 Midnight. The Beach Link provides rides from Harbor Shops (17th Street Causeway), along A1A and westbound on Sunrise Blvd, to the Galleria Mall. The Las Olas Link runs from the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (SW 2nd St and SW 5 Ave) east along 2nd Street to the City Park Garage, then proceeds to Las Olas Boulevard and travels east to Fort Lauderdale Beach and north on A1A to Vistamar Street.
Fares for the trolleys are $1 each way or $3 for an all-day pass. Tickets can be purchased, with cash, onboard the trolleys. To catch a ride, passengers can park their cars at the city parking garages ($5 flat rate) located at the corners of SE 2nd Street between SE 1st Ave., and SE 2nd Ave., and wave at the trolley driver from a safe stopping location anywhere along the routes. The trolleys also offer bike stows.
With the exception of the extended service on the Beach and Las Olas Links, the Sun Trolley will be suspending services on Monday, July 4th across all other routes including; the Downtown, Galt, Neighborhood, NW Community, and Uptown Links. The Riverwalk Water Trolley will run as scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
