WELLESLEY, Mass., Dec. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Life has become an official partner of Bentley University's Center for Women and Business (CWB), which provides tools and training to help organizations foster more inclusive workplaces. Through the CWB's Corporate Partnership Program, Sun Life and other corporate partners work together to explore issues around workplace gender diversity, and identify opportunities and actions companies can take to better address them.
Founded in 2011, the CWB offers programs and training on topics such as mentorship; unconscious bias; men as allies; workplace flexibility; supporting emerging female business leaders; wage parity; corporate culture and its impact on diversity and inclusion; and advancing women in the C-suite and boardroom. The Corporate Partnership Program provides research on issues impacting diversity and inclusion, and roundtables to bring companies together to discuss best practices and make key recommendations on inclusivity and diversity.
"Sun Life is very committed to workplace diversity and career development for all of our employees," said Kathy deCastro, head of Human Resources at Sun Life Financial. "We are proud of our active Women's Leadership Network and are dedicated to furthering workplace gender equality. Partnering with Bentley's Center for Women and Business allows us to continue building on those efforts, as well as share ideas with our corporate peers."
Sun Life's Women's Leadership Network (WLN), which established the partnership, has been dedicated to addressing women's workplace issues for more than 20 years. Established in 1993, the WLN encourages mutual support networks; offers mentorship for women in all stages of their careers; and promotes development programs and education opportunities to help members achieve both professional and personal advancement. Sun Life is also part of the Mayor of Boston's 100% Talent Compact, which is committed to closing the gender pay gap.
In addition to the WLN, Sun Life has an extensive group of diversity and inclusion networks, including Gays, Lesbians, and Others Building Equality (GLOBE); Black Excellence Alliance (BEA); Asian American Heritage Association (AAHA); and Hispanic Organization for Leaders and Achievers (HOLA).
