LOS ANGELES, July 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Devil Athletics announced today a new multi-year agreement with Ticketmaster, the global market leader in ticketing, to serve as the primary ticketing source for events taking place in ASU campus athletic venues.
ASU will leverage Ticketmaster's comprehensive suite of product offerings and resources for athletic programs, including solutions for consumer-facing ticket sales, venue management software, multichannel marketing, sales monitoring, and market pricing.
As part of this new agreement, Arizona State University will become an early adopter of Ticketmaster's newly redesigned AccountManager tool that improves the ability for ASU's ticket holders, donors and fans to pay invoices, manage tickets and purchase additional season and single tickets for events on campus.
"As the most innovative university in the country, we strive to be pioneers in all aspects of our athletic department. Our new partnership with Ticketmaster exemplifies that vision, as we recognize the seamless and advanced experience Ticketmaster provides to our fans when it comes to purchasing tickets to our events," said Ray Anderson, Vice President for University Athletics. "We look forward to simplifying that experience for Sun Devil Nation as we enter this very unique relationship with Ticketmaster."
Ticketmaster will provide Sun Devil fans with the safety and convenience of verified tickets for all home athletic events at ASU, assuring they will always get in to home games when they purchase their tickets from official sources like Ticketmaster and the ASU box office.
The ticketing leader first became connected to Arizona State University in 1976 when ASU student and Gammage intern, Albert Leffler, co-founded Ticketmaster. As Leffler was exploring the arts administration world at Gammage, he and his two founding partners – Peter Gadwa, an ASU alum, and Gordon Gunn III, a businessman and Leffler's family friend – created a new computerized ticketing company from scratch and started up a company named Ticketmaster – now the global leader in live event ticketing technology and services.
"ASU is one of two Pac 12 schools who have made the move to Ticketmaster this past year, yet another Power Five school choosing to utilize our services to empower their ticketing, fundraising, and marketing efforts," said Greg Economou, Chief Commercial Officer & Head of Sports for Ticketmaster North America. "Ticketmaster was founded on the campus of ASU, so we're extremely proud of this meaningful and robust partnership and look forward to leveraging our technology and innovative spirit to ensure the best live event experiences possible for all Sun Devil fans."
Ticketmaster first became Arizona State University's official ticketing partner for its Gammage venue in 1999. Now in 2017, the new partnership with Arizona State University's Athletic Department and Ticketmaster will help to serve Sun Devil teams and fans when purchasing Ticketmaster verified tickets to all ASU home games and live events.
"I can't think of a better way to honor our longstanding history with Arizona State University and the Phoenix community, than to expand our partnership to their world-class Athletic Department," said Albert Leffler, Ticketmaster co-founder and current Vice President of Arts & Theatre Client Development.
Through the new partnership with Ticketmaster, ASU also broadens its existing relationship through the Arizona State University Art Department and performing arts venue.
