Sun Design Remodeling Specialists of Fairfax, Va. Wins All-Star Award for Its Open-Book Management

FAIRFAX, Va., May 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Design Remodeling Specialists, Inc. of Fairfax, Va., has won the Great Game of Business All-Star Award as a result of its success using "open-book" management.  Sun Design was one of only five companies nationwide that received the award, presented recently at "The Annual Gathering of Games Conference."

Open-book management is the practice of regularly providing employees with financial data (except salaries) and other information so they can understand their work in the context of their whole organization. Many practitioners like Sun Design base their methods on the book The Great Game of Business, by Jack Stack.  According to Stack, only a small percentage of U.S. companies open their books to employees, but 83 percent of companies that his organization identifies as Top Small Company Workplaces do.

"I must admit I was skeptical," said Beth Walters, new Director of Communications.
