Summit to Focus on Integration of Smart Grid and Energy Efficiency
WASHINGTON, Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association for Demand Response & Smart Grid (ADS) announced today that it is partnering with the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and the National Home Performance Council (NHPC) to host a first-of-its-kind event to bring together the energy efficiency and smart grid communities for two days of dialogue and learning. The National Summit on Integrating Energy Efficiency & Smart Grid will take place on October 15-16, 2013 in Washington, DC.
The Summit will be the place where speakers and the audience work together and learn from each other, all with the goal of using efficiency and smart grid integration to expand opportunities for both energy users and those who provide technologies and services. Attendees will come from utilities, state and federal agencies, technology companies, performance contractors, service companies and many other stakeholder segments. Speakers will include experts from the program, performance, technology and policy arenas who will discuss the barriers and opportunities relative to integrating energy efficiency and smart grid – as well as demand response.
"Energy efficiency and smart grid are converging in terms of technology, but not in terms of policy or program design," said Dan Delurey, Executive Director of ADS. "People have been asking for a venue to discuss this issue and to identify actions to support integration and coordination, and with the Summit we are trying to respond to that need."
The Summit will feature roundtable sessions where panelists will engage in Q&A with each other and with the audience, and discuss the business topics and policy issues related to EE-SG integration and expansion. The agenda also includes in-depth breakout sessions with presentations by EE, DR and SG experts talking about case studies, new technologies, lessons learned and best practices.
"Since the 1970s, the State Energy Offices have supported technology deployment to capture the benefits of energy efficiency," said David Terry, Executive Director of NASEO. "The National Summit on Integrating Energy Efficiency & Smart Grid provides a much needed forum to explore the intersection of technology and policy, recognizing that buildings are becoming increasingly dynamic in energy production and consumption."
