"Summer of Sharing" Kicks Off, $60,000 to be Donated By Community Financial Credit Union

PLYMOUTH, Mich., June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, Community Financial Credit Union is asking, "What GOOD could you do with $1,000?"

That question marks the kickoff of the second annual "Summer of Sharing," during which Community Financial Credit Union will donate $1,000 a day for 60 days to nonprofit groups in the communities it serves.  The credit union is asking people to visit www.SummerOfSharing.org to answer that question and nominate a nonprofit organization in the process.

"As a community credit union, we wanted to let the community tell us which organizations could use a financial boost," said Bill Lawton, Community Financial Credit Union president/CEO.  "We are proud to be able to support nonprofits through programs like this, and we feel it's important to let the community have a say in the process."

Summer of Sharing was first launched in 2011 to help celebrate Community Financial Credit Union's 60th anniversary.  With the success of the first year, the credit union chose to bring the program back once again.

"There are so many organizations which do such great work, it is impossible to honor them all sufficiently during just one summer," Lawton said.
