Successful Partnership Between The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Burlington Coat Factory Continues To Gain Momentum
In-Store Celebrations Set for Week of Sept. 10
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- For more than ten years, Burlington Coat Factory has raised more than $13 million through its company-wide initiative encouraging its customers to purchase paper balloon icons to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fund cancer research and patient services.
This year's campaign is only at the midpoint but is already well ahead of where it was last year at this point – by more than 40 percent! Burlington Coat Factory's campaign began in July and runs through October 29th at its more than 482 locations in 44 states and Puerto Rico.
To mark this achievement, and to coincide with September being Blood Cancer Awareness Month, stores across the country will hold special events the week of September 10. Staff from LLS will be on hand to present awards to the stores, and will set up tables to encourage customers to sign up for its Light The Night® Walk.
Burlington Coat Factory is LLS's #1 National Corporate Light The Night® Walk partner. In addition to the balloon icon program, Burlington Coat Factory associates will participate in Light The Night Walks throughout the country. Light The Night Walk is LLS's evening walk campaign held in communities across the country each fall to honor and commemorate lives touched by cancer and raise funds to support blood cancer research and help patient and their families.
"LLS is so impressed with Burlington Coat Factory's effort to date," said LLS President and CEO John Walter. "We are so grateful to their employees' dedication and their customers' generosity in making these donations and helping in the fight against blood cancer."
