SuccessEHS Director of Client Services to Serve as Panelist at ONC Annual Meeting
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SuccessEHS Director of Client Services Elizabeth Pharo will serve as a panelist in "IT Bricks and Mortar to Optimize PCMH." This breakout session on Nov. 17 will highlight concrete examples of how patient-centered medical home (PCMH) care models have led to care improvements. The panel session is part of the 2011 Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) Annual Meeting that will take place Nov. 16–18 at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel.
Panelists will discuss strategies and tools to enable PCMH effectiveness and ways to support the spread of promising PCMH practices. Pharo will share lessons learned from SuccessEHS's involvement with the ONC Crescent City Beacon Community (CCBC). In April 2010, the Greater New Orleans community received $13.5 million and established the CCBC. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the goal of the CCBC is to "improve control of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and asthma and smoking cessation and to reduce racial health disparities associated with these conditions." The overarching solution for achieving these goals is the PCMH model.
As part of the panel discussion, Pharo will address the need for PCMH participants to work efficiently with technology partners. She will also speak to actions other stakeholders, such as technology vendors, should take to help drive improvement of IT-enabled PCMH performance.
A live webcast of the Nov. 17 program will be open to the public. Registration for the live webcast is available at http://www.healthit.gov/oncmeeting2011/register/index.php.
