SuccessEHS Client Winn Community Health Center First in Nation to Receive Meaningful Use Year Two Incentive Payment
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SuccessEHS client Winn Community Health Center (CHC) is the first in the nation to receive a Meaningful Use Year Two electronic health record (EHR) incentive payment from a state Medicaid agency. Winn CHC also became the first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) to receive an incentive payment during the first phase of EHR Incentive Program implementation when the program launched in January 2011. This CMS-funded program offers financial incentives to reward and accelerate meaningful use of certified EHR technology among eligible providers.
Winn CHC is a NCQA Level 3 patient-centered medical home that provides comprehensive care to the residents of Winnfield, La. and the surrounding community. In 2009, Winn CHC opened a new facility which currently serves 8,000 unique patients and averages 1,300 monthly patient encounters. Funds received through incentive programs like Meaningful Use position Winn CHC for expansion opportunities, such as the in-house mental and behavioral health services the facility plans to offer in the near future.
"When you surround yourself with good people, good things happen," said Deano Thornton, CEO for Winn CHC. "I have a great staff here at the clinic, and we've had tremendous support from the Louisiana Primary Care Association, the State of Louisiana, the Department of Health and Hospitals, the Louisiana Health Information Technology (LHIT) Resource Center and the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum. The SuccessEHS team also worked hard to help our providers capture the data we needed to meet Meaningful Use requirements."
