SuccessEHS Client Hamilton Health Center Honored as Meaningful Use Vanguard
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SuccessEHS client Hamilton Health Center was selected for the Meaningful Use Vanguard (MUVer) Program in light of their successful transition to an electronic health record (EHR). This recognition was developed by the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology, and is presented by the Pennsylvania Regional Extension and Assistance Center for Health Information Technology (PA REACH); recipients are providers from both public and private practices who are dedicated to improving patient care through the use of healthcare information technology.
Located in Harrisburg, Pa., Hamilton Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides the local community with medical and dental services, immunizations, pharmacy services and specialized care for women, infants and children. In a multi-specialty facility like Hamilton Health, an EHR with extensive interfacing capabilities is a must-have. "The SuccessEHS solution allows us to interface directly with both our lab and our hospital system, which enables us to conveniently access ED data, lab information and test results," said Jeannine Peterson, CEO for Hamilton Health. The facility's staff also praised the solution's e-Prescribing component. "The electronic process makes everything less complicated and accessible in real-time," said Dr. Punitha William, CMO for Hamilton Health. "When choosing templates, SuccessEHS provided a whole 'supermarket' of models, and we could select the templates most relevant to our providers." Hamilton Health's progressive use of these health IT tools demonstrates the staff's commitment to providing quality patient care to their community.
Throughout the transition process, Hamilton Health Center also collaborated with PA REACH East, which is a federally subsidized, Regional Extension Center (REC) that is tasked to assist 3,000 primary care providers in eastern Pennsylvania with becoming meaningful users of an EHR system. To date, PA REACH East has recruited 2,384 providers to implement an EHR and pursue meaningful use of the software.
"The Meaningful Use Vanguard program honors those providers who are leading the effort to transition to an EHR. The chosen providers serve as leaders, advocates and provider champions for their peers," said Laurie Fink, Communications Specialist for PA REACH East.
