Both will work alongside Executive Vice President and Managing Director Debra DeShong in expanding Subject Matter's public affairs practice.
"Subject Matter continues to grow and expand since our launch late last year, and I could not be more excited that Jennie and Justine are joining the team," said DeShong. "Since launching the practice, we've taken on new projects and spearheaded award winning work. I can't wait to see where this new team helps to take the company."
Jennie Westbrook Courts joins Subject Matter as senior public affairs associate. Courts comes to Subject Matter from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where she most recently served as the communications director for Ranking Member Tom Carper (D-Del.).

A few of her clients have included the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Securing America's Future Energy, Alliance for American Education, and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. Before joining Subject Matter, she was a Marketing Client Manager at Beaconfire Consulting and an Interactive Content Manager at Peter Mayer in New Orleans. Justine grew up in New Orleans and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and American Studies from the University of Michigan.
