Study shows almost 1 in 4 college students and recent graduates find current job "meaningless"
COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- While the lackluster economy has negatively impacted the job market for millions of Americans, those currently in college and recent graduates continue to be one of the groups affected the most.

The wages of young college graduates between 2007 and 2012 dropped 7.6 percent and the class of 2013 will likely earn less over the next 10-15 years, according to the Economic Policy Institute.
A study conducted last month by TextbooksRus.com, a leading online retailer of college textbooks, adds new dimensions to these statistics. In the study, 23 percent of college students revealed they find their current job to be 'meaningless'. The study asked college students and recent graduates from across the United States about their work status and thoughts pertaining to their summer or work plans going forward.
For those college students or recent graduates who were employed, fifty-five percent of those surveyed said that their work does not relate to their desired or attained college degree. When it came to trying to find a job, thirty-eight percent of students actively looking for work had not received any offers. However, there was some positive news from the survey. Despite the current job market, 57 percent of college students said their overall mood is optimistic.
The survey received 1,085 responses. For every completed survey, TextbooksRus.com made a donation to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the Oklahoma tornado disasters. For the complete results and methodology of the study, visit www.textbooksrus.com/collegiatestudy.
