Study: Government Executive is #1 Federal Publication and Web Site
Government Executive also #1 federal web site reaching purchasers of IT products and services
WASHINGTON, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Government Executive has been named by an independent study as the #1 print publication and web site read by federal managers,(1) announced Government Executive Media Group today.
Highlights from the study include Government Executive's especially strong position in reaching federal managers directly involved in purchasing IT products and services. According to the independent study, for example, GovernmentExecutive.com (also known as GovExec.com) is the number one federal web site visited daily by government IT managers with annual purchasing involvement of $5 million or higher.(1) Additionally, when analyzing purchasers of specific IT product categories, GovExec.com swept all of the key categories, cited as the most visited federal site among purchasers of IT hardware, IT software and IT services.(1)
The study — entitled "2011 Federal Media and Marketing Study" — was conducted by research firm Market Connections, Inc. and marketing industry veteran Sara Leiman of tmpgovernment with the objective of providing an independent single source of data on federal media habits.
This news comes on the heels of the recent announcement by Government Executive Media Group that both of its web sites, GovExec.com and Nextgov.com, have seen explosive growth in traffic across the first quarter of 2011.(2) Nextgov.com, the fast growing technology partner to GovExec.com, also performed strongly in the study – placing second to GovExec.com among web sites visited daily by federal managers, for example.(1)
Government Executive Media Group's publications also showed exceptional strength among managers in the Department of Defense (DoD). As example, the study identified GovExec.com as the #1 federal web site visited daily by managers in the Department of Defense (DoD), beating out dozens of web sites which market themselves specifically to that audience.(1)
"We are honored to be recognized in the most comprehensive study of federal media habits in the market," said Peter Goldstone, President, Government Executive Media Group. "These results confirm that federal managers, especially top decision makers, recognize and value our enduring commitment to editorial quality built over 40 years of serving this vital community."
The federal media habits survey was fielded via email to over 120,000 federal managers from November 2010 through January 2011 and resulted in over 3,000 respondents.
