Novartis AG Research Reports
On September 19, 2014, Novartis AG (Novartis) reported that according to the data published in The Lancet Oncology, a medical journal, a statistically significant and clinically relevant 4-month improvement was seen in median progression-free survival (PFS) for patients with relapsed or relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma when using the investigational compound LBH589 (panobinostat) in combination with bortezomib and dexamethasone versus placebo plus the same combination. The Company informed that the addition of LBH589 in the Phase III PANORAMA-1 (PANobinostat ORAl in Multiple MyelomA) trial led to clinically meaningful increases in complete and near complete response rates and duration of response across all patient subgroups. On September 22, 2014, WellPoint Inc. (WellPoint) reported the results of its ORC International CARAVAN® Survey that asked Americans what products make their lives easier. The survey results revealed that integrated products and services are highly valued by the consumers. 81% of the consumers stated that it would be extremely helpful to trust the same carrier to provide their dental, vision and health coverage. Survey respondents stated that when it comes to selecting an insurance plan, cost is an extremely important aspect (67%), followed by comprehensiveness of coverage (61%), customer service (60%), and ease of use (58%). Also, 86% respondents expect to save money or receive improved care if the same carrier integrated dental with vision and medical benefits.
