Students, Staff to Parade for School Choice
CLEVELAND, Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of elementary and middle school students and staff wearing National School Choice Week's signature yellow scarves and carrying school choice signs will chant and parade around Imagine Bella Academy of Excellence at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The celebratory parade will feature remarks from Arun Dutt, Imagine Bella Academy of Excellence's principal, and follows a series of other school choice-themed activities at the school.
Each morning during National School Choice Week, a staff member at Imagine Bella Academy of Excellence will announce a new way to celebrate school choice. Within each classroom, students will watch school-choice themed videos, then use writing prompts to define and share their educational goals.
These events are planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We are excited to stand with the children in support of school choice," said Colleen Gentile, academic coach at Imagine Bella Academy of Excellence. "School choice needs to be talked about and we plan to do just that during National School Choice Week. Teachers will be discussing education options in the classrooms, students will be wearing School Choice Week scarves, and we will be learning why school choice matters to each of us."
Imagine Bella Academy of Excellence is a Cleveland charter school serving approximately 300 students in grades K-6 in an urban community.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
