Students, Legislators to Share Indiana School Choice Week Breakfast
INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Gov. Holcomb will present his Indiana School Choice Week proclamation and student winners of a video contest will be announced and recognized at a National School Choice Week Breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Conrad Hotel.
The breakfast will also feature remarks by Betsy Wiley, president and CEO of the Institute for Quality Education. After the breakfast, students and parents will have the opportunity to attend the House and Senate education committees and meet with legislators.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We look forward to our celebration each year during National School Choice Week," said Wiley. "It provides an opportunity to bring state lawmakers, students, parents and educators from all over Indiana and all types of schools together to hear firsthand the positive impact that Indiana's robust and diverse school choice environment is having on tens of thousands of Hoosier students. Indiana is a national leader in educational choice, but there is more work to be done and this week allows us to show that we cannot rest until we provide educational freedom to all Hoosier families."
This event is organized by the Institute for Quality Education, a nonprofit organization working to help more families exercise school choice.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
