This year's flagship event is a student showcase and school parade of excellence at the University of Arizona on Jan. 23 with hundreds of students expected to attend.
Co-hosted by Alta Vista High School Principal Alicia Alvarez and Vail School District Director of Communications and Public Affairs Darcy Mentone, the showcase will unite students from district schools, charter schools, private schools, home-schooled programs, magnet schools, and virtual schools.
The School Choice Week celebration will also feature performances by students at Sunnyside High School, Mexicayotl Academy, Tucson Magnet High School, Espiritu Schools, American Leadership Academy and the nationally recognized Walden Grove High School dance team.
"The rapid growth in quality choice options in Arizona has directly contributed to the educational progress of our students, who are outpacing their peers across the country," said Emily Anne Gullickson, executive director at A for Arizona. "At A for Arizona, we are agnostic to school type but are unapologetic about keeping the quality bar high. We are proud to celebrate Arizona's students, teachers, and schools in honor of National School Choice Week."
