Students and Advocates to Voice Strong Support for School Choice in Wisconsin at Special Event
MADISON, Wis., Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 300 students and parents from across Wisconsin will gather at the First Floor Rotunda of the Wisconsin Capitol at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 29, to celebrate Wisconsin's school choices and to advocate for more and better options statewide. The participants represent a diverse cross section of education offerings in Wisconsin – from traditional public schools to public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and homeschooling.
The event, which will also feature remarks from students, parents and lawmakers, is planned to coincide with National School Choice Week (January 25-31, 2015). Partners involved in planning the celebration include School Choice Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Coalition for Public Charter Schools, the MacIver Institute, the Alliance for School Choice, and the Hispanics for School Choice.
Celebrated every year in January, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on all types of effective education options for children, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and homeschooling. The celebration is nonpartisan and nonpolitical. National School Choice Week 2015 will feature a history-making 11,000 independently planned and independently funded events across all 50 states.
