Student Scholarship Award Offered by Memorial Blood Centers

ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Memorial Blood Centers is very excited to introduce the Rock Your School for Life Student Scholarship Award, a student scholarship opportunity that provides one talented high school senior with a $2,000 scholarship toward further academic pursuits. Essays must be submitted through the Memorial Blood Centers school scholarship page, http://www.mbc.org/scholarship by March 4, 2011. High school seniors throughout the Twin Cities Metro and Northland areas are encouraged to apply.

To be considered for this award, students must be planning to attend a continuing education institution and submit a written essay online at http://www.mbc.org/scholarship to the following set of questions:

"Think ahead to what your life will be like five years from now. What will you have done to help ensure your community has a steady blood supply? Specifically explain your role as an advocate for blood donation. What are the major challenges you expect to face to staying involved and how do you think you will overcome them?"

• Essays must be submitted through Memorial Blood Centers' website, http://www.mbc.org/scholarship by March 4, 2011.
• Essays will be scored on a point system broken down into four categories: relevance to topic, originality, writing style and mechanics.
• The winner will be announced and presented the scholarship award on April 7, 2011.
