Student Performances, Family Fun, and Increased Awareness about Education Options Expected at School Fair Held during National School Choice Week
CHEYENNE, Wyo., Jan. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Musicians and singers from St. Mary's Catholic School, Destiny Christian Academy, and Trinity Lutheran school will headline as student performers for the roughly 1,000 people expected to attend the Wyoming School Fair at the Little America Hotel & Resort in Cheyenne, Saturday, January 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Jillian Balow, Wyoming Department of Education State Superintendent of Public Instruction will offer a short speech and a Q&A session. Schools from across the state in every sector will be represented, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, private schools and online schools. A directory of statewide options will be handed out at the fair with information about all options throughout the state. The information parents receive from the fair will empower all families to consider a wide variety of education options in order to find the best educational environment for their children.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We are excited about sharing Wyoming's education options and how its schools are changing to meet the unique needs of various communities," said Melissa Denton, managing editor of Wyoming Parent Magazine and parent in Lander, Wyoming. "Some districts offer schools that meet four days a week for 10 hours and have developed tailored after-school programs to serve K-12 students. Online education and homeschooling are important tools in this state where kids may face commutes to school for as much as three hours. By hosting the first annual Wyoming School Fair, Wyoming Parent is continuing this progressive dialogue with parents across the state."
Wyoming Parent, an online-only magazine geared toward parents, is hosting the event.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the National School Choice Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
