Stryker Mobility Zone Makes First Stop In The Northwest At Boeing Classic
"Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour" to Promote Joint Health at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge
MAHWAH, N.J., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stryker Orthopaedics, the "Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour", is pleased to announce its first onsite presence at the Boeing Classic, from August 21-23 in Snoqualmie, WA. For more than ten years, golf legends have participated in the Boeing Classic at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, and this week, Stryker will join the popular tournament to reinforce its commitment to promoting joint health.
Stryker recognizes fans enthusiasm and anticipation for the Pacific Northwest's premier golf event and has focused efforts on an enhanced experience for tournament goers. While onsite, the company will engage with golf fans and provide them with the opportunity to learn about Stryker hip and knee products, as well as how patients may return to everyday activities post-surgery.
For the first time, consumers will have the chance to stop by Stryker's activation at the course, the Stryker Mobility Zone, a destination designed to educate fans on the importance of joint health. Features include:
- Mako – Stryker's robotic-arm-assisted technology – and how it's changing the way joint replacement is performed
- Interactive photo booth for fans to share highlights of their tournament experience
- On-site local orthopedic surgeons to provide fans with joint health assessments and additional education
- Pedometer giveaway for fans to track their steps and mobility throughout the course
- Meet and greet opportunities with Champions Tour Golfers and Stryker Brand Ambassadors, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton
- Meet and greet opportunities with former Seattle Seahawk, Sidney Rice
Stryker's activation at the tournament also includes the hosting of the Stryker Health Walk, where key health tips are displayed in selected areas along the course for fans to read as they watch a round of golf.
As an exclusive feature for the Boeing Classic, Stryker will be joined by Sidney Rice, former Seattle Seahawk and Super Bowl Champion. Rice, who has experience dealing with joint pain, participated in the Seahawks Rumble at the Ridge event on Monday to kick-off tournament week. Rice will also be stopping by the Stryker Mobility Zone on Thursday to meet fans and discuss his history of dealing with joint pain, as well as his love for the game of golf.
"After officially retiring in October 2014, it's exciting for me to have the opportunity to promote staying healthy alongside Stryker," said former wide receiver, Sidney Rice. "I've been challenging myself to try out new sports and activities that help keep me in shape and it's certainly motivating to be able to participate in the Boeing Classic and meet some of golf's greatest players like Fred Funk and Hal Sutton."
"At Stryker, we take pride in our commitment and continued efforts to spread our message of joint health by leveraging our onsite activation at golf tournaments and through our ongoing relationship with our ambassadors, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton," said Bill Huffnagle, President, Reconstructive Division, Stryker. "This is an exciting tournament for us to take part in, and we're looking forward to putting a stake in the ground in the Pacific Northwest."
Champions Tour golfers, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton, both brand ambassadors and recipients of Stryker products, have been the faces of Stryker since the beginning of its relationship with the PGA TOUR in 2014.
Funk, a Stryker brand ambassador since 2011, is one of the most recognizable names and personalities in professional golf. During his career, which spans more than 20 years, Funk has won eight titles on the PGA TOUR, including THE PLAYERS Championship 2005, and six titles on the Champions Tour, including the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. Funk underwent total knee replacement in November 2009 and received Stryker's GetAroundKnee. He won the 2010 JELD-WEN Tradition the following season, becoming the first player ever to win a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event after total knee replacement surgery.
Sutton, whose 14 PGA TOUR victories include the 1983 PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship in 1983 and 2000, has been a Stryker brand ambassador since last year. In 2012, at age 54, after speaking with his doctor and learning about the differences in hip replacements, Sutton made the decision to undergo a total left hip replacement and received Stryker's Mobile Bearing Hip™. One year later, he received a matching Stryker Mobile Bearing Hip on the right side.
