Stryker Challenge Makes Official PGA TOUR Debut at Shell Houston Open
The "Official Joint Replacement Products" of PGA TOUR Revamps Fan Experience for 2016
MAHWAH, N.J., March 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Stryker Orthopaedics, the Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, today announced its first stop in 2016 with the Shell Houston Open in Humble, TX. As part of a recent extension with the PGA TOUR®, Stryker will continue to engage with fans at select PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions events. New for 2016 is the introduction of the Stryker Challenge, which can be found on-site located within the Stryker Mobility Zone.
Over the past two years, Stryker has been committed to educating tournament goers about the importance of leading an active lifestyle and keeping joints healthy. In an effort to maximize this commitment, the Stryker Challenge will enhance the overall fan experience with interactive, educational activities in the Stryker Mobility Zone. Additionally, fans can enter to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to TPC® Sawgrass to play alongside former PLAYERS Championship winners and longtime Stryker ambassadors, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton.
"I'm proud to say that year over year, Stryker continues to innovate our presence at PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions events with our premiere on-site joint health destination, the Stryker Mobility Zone," said Bill Huffnagle, President, Reconstructive Division, Stryker. "The Stryker Challenge will allow fans to engage in activities related to joint health, mobility and golf with the potential to win a prize at the end. We're anticipating lots of excitement and are thrilled to be offering this to fans."
The Stryker Mobility Zone will continue to provide fans with the opportunity to speak with local orthopaedic surgeons, the chance to meet the following roster of athletes at select tournaments, as well as participate in a number of giveaways:
- Pro Football Hall of Famer and 2006 Super Bowl Champion, Jerome Bettis
- PGA TOUR Champions golfer and Stryker GetAroundKnee recipient, Fred Funk
- PGA TOUR Champions golfer and two-time Stryker Mobile Bearing Hips recipient, Hal Sutton
In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Shell's sponsorship of the Houston Open, Sutton, the 2001 Shell Houston Open Champion, will be stopping by the Stryker Mobility Zone for meet and greet opportunities with fans in attendance.
"I've been part of the Stryker team for four years now and the most rewarding part of working with the company is the actual engagement with fans," said TOUR Champions golfer and Stryker Ambassador, Hal Sutton. "I enjoy telling them my personal story of undergoing joint replacement surgery and I try to get people to understand that they're not alone when it comes to joint pain. I always encourage them to see a doctor who can help find an alternative that best suits their needs."
Sutton, whose 14 PGA TOUR victories include the 1983 PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship in 1983 and 2000, has been a Stryker brand ambassador since 2013. In 2012, at age 54, after speaking with his doctor and learning about the differences in hip replacements, Sutton made the decision to undergo a total hip replacement of his left hip and received Stryker's Mobile Bearing Hip™. One year later, he received a matching Stryker Mobile Bearing Hip on the right side.
