Stroock Lawyer Irene Oria Named National Finance Director of Hispanic National Bar Association
MIAMI, Sept. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP announced that Irene Oria, a special counsel in the firm's Miami office, has been elected National Finance Director for The Hispanic National Bar Association.
Ms. Oria, who just completed a year of service as the HNBA Regional President in Florida, was sworn in for the one-year term of National Finance Director during HNBA's annual convention September 2 - 5 in Boston.
In the position of National Finance Director, Ms. Oria chairs one of the organization's most important committees. She leads a team of lawyers and legal professionals responsible for communicating with the association's supporters and sponsors and ensuring the financial sustainability of the HNBA.

Ms. Oria has more than 10 years of experience in complex commercial business litigation in federal and state courts and arbitration tribunals. She has represented domestic and international public and private companies in contract-related and business tort disputes, and has recently focused on Securities and Financial Services litigation, including nationwide class and multi-district litigation.
Recent honors include: South Florida Legal Guide's "Top Lawyers" Class of 2015; Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy Fellow, 2015; a "Top Up and Comer" in Commercial Litigation and Financial Litigation by the South Florida Legal Guide, 2014 and 2015 editions; recipient of the "40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of Miami-Dade County" award by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2013; and named to the 2013 Lawyers of Color "Hot List" (Southern Region).
Prior to joining Stroock, Ms. Oria was an Assistant U.S. Attorney, U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, Civil Division. Ms. Oria earned her J.D. from Cornell University Law School, where she was managing editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy, and received her B.A. from Columbia University.
