Stroock Expands Energy and Project Finance Practice with Addition of Daniel R. Simon
WASHINGTON, May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel R. Simon has joined the Energy and Project Finance Practice Group of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP as special counsel in the Washington, DC office.
"Daniel's comprehensive knowledge of energy regulatory law, particularly in electricity, crude oil and other energy products, will enhance our ability to advise our clients in their energy transactions," said Jeffrey W. Meyers, chair of Stroock's Energy and Project Finance Practice Group. "His experience as a former trial attorney with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will allow us to provide enhanced services to our clients."
Mr. Simon focuses on a wide range of energy regulatory issues, primarily involving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state utility commissions. In the electricity sector, he represents vertically integrated electric utilities, independent power producers, renewable energy project developers, hydroelectric project licensees, transmission organizations (RTOs) and independent system operators (ISOs), and large commercial and industrial electricity consumers. In the crude oil and products sector, Mr. Simon represents producers, refiners, and traders, primarily as pipeline shippers.

Prior to joining Stroock, Mr. Simon was counsel with Ballard Spahr LLP. He received his J.D., with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was Note Editor of the North Carolina Law Review, and his A.B., cum laude, from Duke University.
