Stroock Entertainment Partners Earn Highest Industry Honors
Los Angeles Partners Recognized by Hollywood Reporter and Variety
LOS ANGELES, April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Three entertainment partners at the Los Angeles Office of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP have once again been named to the entertainment industry's most prestigious attorney lists. Schuyler Moore and Matthew C. Thompson made the Hollywood Reporter's "Top 100 Power Lawyers" and Daniel A. Rozansky was one of only 60 attorneys named to Variety magazine's "2014 Legal Impact Report."
Moore and Thompson are multiple Hollywood Reporter "Power Lawyer" award winners, and Rozansky earned his second straight "Impact Report" nod from Variety this year.
"We are very appreciative that our partners earned these highest honors from the entertainment industry's two most prestigious and respected publications," said Julia Strickland, Managing Partner of Stroock's Los Angeles Office. "These awards recognize their groundbreaking achievements in both deal-making and litigation, and Stroock's involvement in many of Hollywood's most sophisticated transactions and litigations."
The Hollywood Reporter's Power Lawyer list is built around the biggest deals and legal cases of the past year. Moore represented a lead investor for the biggest slate deal of the year, handled the most complex single film financing of all time, and negotiated a nine-figure film financing deal for a client in the past year. Thompson structured a complex deal for a television client's first feature film, helped with the sale of a scripted series to television and structured a revolutionary, first-of-its-kind deal for a film production client. Those making the Hollywood Reporter list must meet stringent guidelines as noted by the magazine. "To determine Hollywood's 100 most influential attorneys THR researches the biggest deals and legal cases of the past year. Lawyers are identified as talent dealmakers, litigators or corporate dealmakers and evaluated against their peers based on cases won/nature of deals closed as well as their reputation within the entertainment legal community."
Variety noted the accomplishments of Rozansky by stating, "By mounting a vigorous anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuits against public participation) defense against multiple suits served against his clients, who work in [the fields of] film, finance and reality TV, Rozansky saved them $500 million, including recovered attorney's fees."
In addition to the Hollywood Reporter's "Top 100 Power Lawyers List," Moore and Thompson have been recognized as Variety "Dealmakers" several times in the past few years.
