LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The inaugural Street League DC Pro Tour Fueled by Monster Energy will begin three consecutive weeks of Prime Time broadcasts on ESPN2 starting on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, 5:00 p.m. Pacific. Rob Dyrdek's $1.2 million Street League Tour debuted to a near sell-out crowd on August 28 at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ. The groundbreaking series features the introduction of instant scoring format that allows competitors and viewers to follow the action trick-by-trick with exciting ranking changes from the beginning to the very last trick of each event.
Dyrdek kicked off the event by turning off the arena lights and introducing the seven finalists to the roaring crowd. "Saturday was simply a dream come true for me. It would not have been possible without the support from our best pros and the undeniable entertainment that an instant scoring format brings to skateboarding contests," says the Street League creator. "Beyond anything it was the best skateboarding I have ever witnessed in my life."
Earlier this year, Street League announced a multi-year partnership with ESPN for worldwide distribution in more than 198 countries. The 2010 Street League DC Pro Tour fueled by Monster Energy is a prestigious, invite-only, three-event series featuring the top 24 pros in the world. Founded by twenty-year professional skateboarder and entrepreneur, Rob Dyrdek, Street League raises the bar of competitive professional skateboarding with the most prize money in skateboarding history, skate plaza course design in world-class arenas, and an instant-scoring format that makes every trick count.
Street League Skateboarding features the exclusive participation of the world's top street skateboarders ranging from familiar contest stars like Ryan Sheckler and Chris Cole to core street skateboarders like P.J. Ladd and Dylan Reider. The combined roster of athletes represents the winners of the past four years of the Dew Tour, X Games and Maloof Money Cup. Nearly $400,000 will be awarded at each of the three stops ending with the finale in Las Vegas, Nev. (Thomas & Mack Center) on Sept. 25.
