Strategic Growth of Fried Frank's M&A and Private Equity Practice Continues
Mark Lucas Rejoins Fried Frank from Goldman Sachs in New York and Daniel Oates Will Join in London
NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that Mark Lucas has joined and Daniel Oates will join the Firm as partners in the Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice, in the New York and London offices, respectively.

Mr. Lucas was previously a Vice President & Associate General Counsel in the Legal Department at Goldman Sachs, where he covered the Merchant Banking Division. He focused on private equity transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and capital raising activities as well as other principal investments made by Goldman Sachs. As a Fried Frank associate from 2004 to 2010, Mr. Lucas represented private equity firms and public and private companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions; he also acted as general corporate counsel on issues related to corporate governance and other matters.

Mr. Lucas received his Bachelor of Laws (with Honors) and his Bachelor of Commerce (with a specialization in Accounting and Finance) in 2001 from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. He is admitted to practice in New York and Victoria, Australia.
Previously a partner at O'Melveny & Myers and head of the Mergers and Acquisitions practice in London, Mr. Oates advises private equity and corporate clients on a wide range of multi-jurisdictional transactions, including acquisitions and leveraged buyouts, disposals, public-to-private transactions and initial public offerings.

Prior to joining O'Melveny & Myers, Mr. Oates was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. Mr. Oates completed a Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in London in 2002, earned his Diploma in Law from City University in London in 2001 and received a B.A. from St. Hugh's College at The University of Oxford in 2000. The Law Society of England and Wales admitted him to practice as a solicitor in 2004.
