Storage Made Easy announces a collaboration with OpenIO, the most flexible object storage solution on the market
Storage Made Easy, supplier of the leading enterprise file fabric, signs a partnership agreement with OpenIO, enabling customers to build the most flexible and versatile object storage systems.
LONDON, Dec. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Storage Made Easy has announced that their software has been certified with OpenIO SDS 16.10. This new collaboration expands OpenIO's capabilities, and end users can now use the Storage Made Easy's Enterprise File Fabric on top of their OpenIO storage platform, enabling secure access to their data from any desktop computer, web browser, or mobile device.
OpenIO, the most flexible and versatile object storage solution, allows a storage platform to be deployed and scaled up from 1TB to 1000+PB. OpenIO works with all types of applications, on any hardware, even heterogeneous. The open source solution allows organizations to converge applications and storage on a single scale-out platform, bringing agility to large-scale storage infrastructures. Companies can store unlimited data and run applications within the cluster without making changes.
Storage Made Easy brings a suite of file governance and sharing features to OpenIO, which facilitate the use of object storage, allowing them to control and manage data with enriched cloud computing features.
For object storage-based data, the Storage Made Easy solution bridges the gap between object and file storage by providing users with a familiar view, similar to their existing file-based solutions. This enables companies to set strong user controls through the use of policies, including full event audits, wherever users access data. Data can also be locked down through the use of bring your own device (BYOD) controls which are built into the Storage Made Easy solution.
The Storage Made Easy product adds a protocol gateway which can provide access to OpenIO data over FTP/WebDav/SFTP, as well as an Amazon S3 compatible API.
"We are very excited about this partnership with Storage Made Easy. This agreement, combined with the technical capabilities of both our solutions, make an ideal fit in the market," said Laurent Denel, CEO of OpenIO. "This strategic step allows us to add an enterprise cloud file sharing solution to the data use cases we already master and provide our customers high added value for their storage."
Jim Liddle, CEO of Storage Made Easy, said, "Telcos and enterprises are searching for ways to consolidate their object storage to improve scalability, and to reduce total cost of ownership, which has been affected by the growth of unstructured data. Storage Made Easy provides the application stack that facilitates end user consumption of this data, and, as we continue to partner with best-of-breed object vendors, we are pleased to announce our partnership with OpenIO."

About Storage Made Easy (SME)
The Storage Made Easy Enterprise File Share and Sync Fabric enables IT to regain control of "cloud sprawl," unifying private and public file sharing into a single, converged storage infrastructure that can easily be managed and be used to set governance and audit controls.
The SME solution offers a "blanket" that enterprises can privately apply to wrap around all their data: on premises, within a public cloud, or on a third party software vendors' cloud (SharePoint or SalesForce for example). Customers use SME for security, encryption, audit, and control as well as to provide a data unification platform.
