Stop & Shop Approaching Final Conversion of 25 Former A&P Stores in Greater New York
Store conversions expected to be completed in time for the holidays
PURCHASE, N.Y., Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC today announced it is nearing the conclusion of its conversion of 25 A&P stores it is acquiring with a fifth wave beginning today, November 5th. During this process, four stores will temporarily close for approximately 7 days, however the pharmacies and banks within these locations will remain open during the conversion process.

"We've completed the conversion process of more than half of the 25 newly acquired A&P stores to Stop & Shop stores. This has been a monumental task for all those involved and look forward to opening the fourth wave of stores to our customers on Friday, November 6th in Bayside, Baldwin, Massapequa and Seaford, New York as well as Closter, New Jersey," said Don Sussman, president of Stop & Shop New York Metro Division. "We are expecting to close the Mt. Kisco, New York store located at 195 N. Bedford Avenue on Friday, November 13 and open as a Stop & Shop store on Thursday, November 19th," added Sussman.
While the extent of the remodels and addition of new amenities continue to vary by store, each store will reopen as a Stop & Shop store and be refreshed with modern decor, updated refrigeration systems, new lighting, state-of-the-art technology, and other improvements. New and vibrant signage will show Stop & Shop's low prices and exciting promotions.
Stop & Shop's signature fresh departments including the Produce, Bakery, Meat & Seafood Departments will be featured throughout the converted stores as key destinations. Other exciting offers include an extensive assortment of natural and organic products, including over 1,400 Nature's Promise products as well as gluten-free and special diet selections.
The Stop & Shop Card will offer customers automatic access to thousands of savings every time they shop plus Gas Extra Rewards. Customers using the Stop & Shop Card can also accrue points to help local schools earn money through our A+ School Rewards Program.
Scan It! and Weigh It! technology are time saving tools to benefit the customer's shopping experience in Wave 4 stores (excluding the Bayside, NY store). Peapod, the country's leading Internet grocer, will also be available to service customers in all five New York City boroughs, in addition to Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut markets.
