Stop & Shop Alerts Customers to Voluntary Recall of Nature's Promise Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food
QUINCY, Mass., Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a recall by Sunshine Mills, Inc, Stop & Shop announced it has removed from sale Nature's Promise Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food due to the potential that it may contain excess Vitamin D, which may cause renal failure.
The following products are included in this recall:
- Nature's Promise Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food 4 lb, with Best By Dates of November 1, 2018 – November 8, 2019
- Nature's Promise Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food 14 lb with Best By Dates of November 1, 2018 – November 8, 2019
- Nature's Promise Chicken & Brown Rice Dog Food 28 lb with Best By Dates of November 1, 2018 – November 8, 2019
Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses to date. Consumers should stop feeding the products listed above. Dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D, when consumed at very high levels, can lead to serious health issues in dogs including renal dysfunction. Consumers with dogs who have consumed any of the products listed above and are exhibiting any of these symptoms, should contact their veterinarian.
Consumers who have purchased any of the products affected by this recall should dispose of it or return it to the retailer for a full refund.
