Stonebridge Country Club Celebrates 15th Skins Game With Golf Legends
Golf legends Dana Quigley, Brett Quigley, Brad Faxon, and Lucas Glover join members in country club skins game
BOCA RATON, Fla., Nov. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 13th, at the Stonebridge Country Club's 15th Annual Skins Game, members were joined by golf legends for an intimate golf exhibition. Dana Quigley, Brett Quigley, Brad Faxon, and Lucas Glover demonstrated why they have dominated golf headlines for years. The Quigleys were competing against Faxon and Glover, in a match that will be remembered for years to come.
Starting on the back 9, on their very first hole, a par 5, all four players hit long drives down the middle allowing them to reach the green in two, over a 200 yard lake, which is no easy feat. The hole was tied with birdies.
On hole 11, Dana Quigley hit a beautiful tee shot on the 170 yard par 3 to within 4 feet. Brad Faxon followed, hitting a nice high draw to 12 feet. Both Lucas Glover and Brad Faxon missed their putt, while Brett Quigley made the 4 footer, achieving the first skin of the day.
On hole 12, Faxon hit his 3 wood in play, his partner Glover bombed his drive 50 yards in front of the green. The Quigley team, hitting wedges for their second shot barely missed making a birdie. Glover however, to win the hole made the birdie. At holes 13 and 14, each of the four players hit great tee shots, with several players missing the hole by just inches. Dana Quigley impressed the crowd by hitting his wedge to 6 feet.
Playing 172 yards into the wind and uphill, hole 15 presented a particular challenge. Faxon did well, landing 15 feet away from the hole, but was outdone by Brett Quigley at 8 feet. Glover made the downhill right to left putt for the birdie, as Dana and Brett Quigley barely missed, giving the hole to the opposite team.
Holes 16 and 17 saw more great shots by all four contenders. The 17th hole was halved with the birdie by Glover after he flipped a 50-yard pitch to 6 feet. The finishing hole presented a tuck pin over the bunker, though it was still no match for these professional players. The final hole was tied with a birdie after both teams hit their second shots very close to the hole.
In this 9 hole match played between the two teams there were 12 birdies and 1 eagle. Faxon and Glover, the ultimate winners, gathered with the Quigleys and the Stonebridge members afterwards in the clubhouse where they shared stories over food and drinks. Director of Golf at Stonebridge Jeff Hall said, "This was a sight of how good the best players in the world really are. The event will go down as one of the best in Stonebridge Country Club's history."
