STMicroelectronics Voltage Comparator Gives Fast Response Time at Industry's Lowest Current Consumption
GENEVA, Dec. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications and a leading manufacturer of standard ICs, today introduced a high-speed voltage comparator with the market's best ratio of current consumption to response time.
ST's high-speed voltage comparator addresses applications where fast response time is critical, such as in data communications equipment. When a noise occurs in the signal, for example, minimized delay helps ensure instant data recovery and thus maintain failure-free communication traffic flow. Fast-response comparators can also find use in pulse-width modulation for audio amplifiers or as output buffers in oscilloscopes and analog-to-digital converters.
ST's TS3011 single comparator achieves a propagation delay of 8ns while consuming only 470 MuA of supply current at 5V, which is 50% lower than other solutions in the market. This unmatched energy efficiency allows ST customers to design products that use less power and have less impact on the environment.
The TS3011 integrates push-pull outputs, removing the need for a pull-up resistor, and rail-to-rail inputs with operating voltage range from 2.2V to 5V. The device delivers a stable response time over a wide temperature range of -40 degrees C to +125 degrees C. It is a robust solution with superior ESD (Electrostatic Discharge Protection) capabilities and a latch-up immunity of 200 mA.
Available in space-saving SMD packages, ST's TS3011 high-speed voltage comparator targets signal-conditioning applications in Telecom and Industrial fields. The device is in volume production, with unit pricing $1.05 in quantities of 1,000 pieces. Further pricing options are available for larger quantities.
