Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT, Inc.) Awarded Task to Support Department of Transportation Volpe Center

GREENBELT, Md., Jan. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SGT, Inc., a leading provider of Engineering, Science, Project Management, and Information Technology services, today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) has awarded SGT the Volpe Transportation Information Project Support (V-TRIPS) Task Order One.  

An innovative Federal fee-for-service organization, the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center), part of the U.S. DOT's Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), is an internationally recognized center of transportation and logistics expertise. The Center has eight Centers of Innovation which focus on cross-cutting transportation, research, education, innovation, and other multimodal issues and offer their services to both DOT and non-DOT organizations.

The task order was awarded under the umbrella of the V-TRIPS Contract.  Specific work on the task order is in the area of Volpe Center's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) project base within the Safety Management Systems Center of Innovation. The primary focus of the work is in the areas of System Analysis, Development, Operations and Maintenance, Deployment and Information Security; System Architectures and Framework; Facility and Operations Support; and, Technology Assessment and Modernization.

The Task Order has a value of approximately $110M over the next five years.

SGT Teammates include Raytheon, Hi-Tec Systems and Craig Technologies.
