Steve Simpson Joins Ogilvy & Mather as Chief Creative Officer for North America
NEW YORK, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Steve Simpson, one of the advertising industry's most awarded and respected creative leaders, is joining Ogilvy & Mather North America in the role of Chief Creative Officer, North America from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners where he was a partner and creative leader.
"For the past year we have gone through an intense talent review process inside and outside the company. I could not be more excited to announce Steve's appointment on top of our latest internal promotions in Creative (Chris Wall and Lars Bastholm), Marketing (Lauren Crampsie), and Innovation (Dan Burrier)," said John Seifert, Chairman and CEO of Ogilvy & Mather North America.
"Steve joins us after successful stints at two agencies we deeply admire: Hal Riney & Partners (originally Ogilvy & Mather San Francisco) and Goodby, Silverstein and Partners. With all of Steve's accomplishments, we feel so fortunate to have a true 'gentleman with brains' join our leadership team."
Since 1995, Simpson has been one of just seven partners heading Goodby, Silverstein & Partners as it has experienced unprecedented financial and creative growth. He has won every major industry award many times over, served on the boards of many industry award organizations and on the jury of countless award shows.
In commenting on Steve Simpson, Steve Hayden, Vice Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide said, "Steve is one of the most gifted writers and creative directors in this business today, and we're fortunate he's willing to spend the next chapter of his career leading Ogilvy's creative in our most important region."
Described by his former agency as a "writer's writer," Simpson is known for penning some of the most memorable advertising of our time; he has partnered with and mentored many of today's most celebrated talents.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have Steve Simpson on board. Steve is a giant in our industry and he will add enormously to our creative firepower in North America," said Tham Khai Meng, Worldwide Creative Director and Chairman, Worldwide Creative Council. "As CCO, North America, he will play a pivotal role on global and regional clients, and will work closely with John and I to drive great work and pervasive creativity in the biggest market in our network. I cannot think of anyone better than Steve for this role."
