SAVANNAH, Ga., April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Executive Vice President (EVP) Chuck Hertzler and District 8 Area District Vice President (ADVP) Ray Smith jointly announced today that Steve Redmond has been promoted to marketing company president (MCP) of UHC of Coastal South Carolina (Co. 768).

Redmond began his U-Haul career in November 1986 as a dispatching and receiving (D&R) technician at U-Haul of Farragut (774-071). Shortly after, Redmond transferred as a D&R technician to U-Haul Moving and Storage at Chapman Highway (774-066), before being promoted to network support specialist at U-Haul Company of Knoxville (Co. 774). In June 1989, Redmond was promoted to senior traffic control manager (TCM) and also held the office manager position at (Co. 774). In October 1992, Redmond was named to the position of marketing inventory control manager, after which he became a reservation manager for Co. 774. In January 1993, Redmond became center storage manager at U-Haul Moving and Storage at Rutledge (774-065), and shortly thereafter was promoted to general manager GM of 774-065. Upon returning to Co. 774, Redmond held several positions before being promoted to executive assistant (EA) in April 1998, the position he held until his recent promotion. Today, Redmond will oversee all operations of UHC of Coastal South Carolina, including truck, trailer and storage rentals. His U-Haul experience and proven leadership skills certainly will drive Team 768 to success.

In assuming his new role as president, Redmond is most enthusiastic about the opportunity to use his U-Haul experience to help U-Haul Company of Coastal South Carolina continue to grow. Redmond says his company has a lot of experienced team members, and by combining their knowledge and experience with his own, Team 768 will be able to take what has already been learned and build successfully on it. Redmond's goal is to fill storage and increase box and hitch sales, ultimately increasing overall profits. He plans on reaching his goal to provide exceptional customer service by using the tools available from U-Haul, and is excited about having a team that is knowledgeable about U-Haul product, which will ultimately help to better serve the customer. Redmond feels that personal selling is a must in order to reach his goals. He is also going to strive to open more dealers, which will also help increase transactions and profits.
