NEW YORK, March 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling , the world's leading background and identity services provider, announced today the appointment of Josh Peirez to CEO. Peirez joined the company and its board in July 2018, and has been serving as co-CEO with founder William Greenblatt. Peirez formally assumes his new position on April 1, while Greenblatt will continue his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
"Billy's leadership, dedication, and vision have established a legacy of excellence. I'm excited to lead such a talented team at this critical time when the industry is transforming," said Peirez. "As the nature of the global workforce continues to evolve with gig and shorter-term employment becoming more prominent, our clients are facing unprecedented risks. Sterling is ideally positioned to lead the industry into this new era. The global opportunity is huge and barely touched."
This announcement takes place in tandem with the rollout of a new global strategy that, over the next three months, brings all Sterling international operations and business units under the Sterling brand umbrella. Sterling began the first stage of this initiative in February by transitioning its corporate name from Sterling Talent Solutions to Sterling—an intentionally singular, more unified brand identity—and launching a new digital brand experience at SterlingCheck.com.
"By unifying our global brand strategy, Sterling has an extraordinary opportunity to expand our reach into new regions, industries, and services," Peirez continued. "The new name and brand reflect our initiative to unify around a cohesive global vision. Every business we operate helps organizations deliver safer environments and trusted customer experiences."
As he assumes the role of CEO, Peirez has announced additional executive moves that include the ascension of Richard Seldon from President to Vice Chairman and the promotion of former Chief Innovation Officer, Lou Paglia, to President.
"We have the strongest executive team in the company's history," said Greenblatt of the recent changes. "The entire concept of employers, work and workers is changing in real time. Sterling is at the forefront of shaping the future of the industry, and from identity authentication to background verification and corporate due diligence, we will continue to innovate on behalf of our clients and partners."
Peirez joined Sterling from Dun & Bradstreet (D&B), where he served as President and Chief Operating Officer managing all aspects of their customer-facing operations. Prior to joining D&B, Peirez was Chief Innovation Officer for MasterCard.
"Josh is a proven leader who has been a catalyst for growth throughout his career," said Chris Crampton, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and a Sterling Board Member. "He has already had a huge impact during his time at Sterling, and we are confident that he will drive continued success."
