With up to 24 different options, there is a plan that fits most needs and budgets. The product offers 3 types of lump-sum coverage plans: cancer only, critical condition only and combination cancer and critical condition. Plans are offered in most U.S. states from Sterling insurance agents.
Sterling Critical Condition was developed to help pay for out-of-pocket expenses typically not covered by major medical plans. Upon diagnosis or treatment for a covered condition, the policy pays a lump sum directly to the insured. The benefits can be used however is most beneficial, such as making mortgage payments, replacing lost income from work, and helping with co-payments and deductibles. All of this helps ease the financial burden of a critical illness and allows the insured to focus on recovery.
"Major medical insurance does not cover all expenses incurred when a person has cancer or a critical illness," said Gerald Riley, Vice President of Product Development of Sterling Insurance. "Often there are indirect costs like loss of income due to missed work, travel expenses, childcare expenses or payments for experimental or alternative treatments. Sterling's Critical Condition plan is specifically designed to pay for such expenses, above and beyond what is covered by a major medical plan."
