LENOIR CITY, Tenn., Aug. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Global Operations (SGO), which performs stability operations worldwide for the U.S. government, foreign governments friendly to the U.S., and private companies, believes in hiring our nation's heroes.
SGO participates in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes events, and the results are bringing additional talent with military training, experience, and maturity into the company, said Matt Kaye, SGO chief executive officer.
"When a Hiring Our Heroes job fair was held recently in Knoxville, we hired two military veterans skilled in the handling of unexploded ordnance," Kaye said. "This work requires knowledge, skill, and the ability to accept responsibility, all of which are attributes of men and women who have completed successful service in the U.S. military."
SGO hired another employee following a Hiring Our Heroes job fair held at Ft. Campbell, Ky. SGO has more than 20 veterans on its workforce just at its Lenoir City, Tenn. headquarters.
Three military veterans recently hired by SGO under the Hiring Our Heroes program (with hometowns listed) are:
- Richard Montcalm – retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major, from Woodlawn, Tenn.
- Charles Russell, a former tech sergeant (E-6), U.S. Air Force, from Talbot, Tenn.
- David Pratt, a former sergeant (E-5), U.S. Army, from Knoxville, Tenn.
"Military veterans have distinguished themselves in training and in the field, regardless of whether their jobs were on the front lines or in support and administrative units," Kaye said.
Hiring Our Heroes has held more than 730 job fairs across the country since the program began in 2011. Hiring Our Heroes' goal is to secure commitments from businesses across America to hire 500,000 U.S. veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses hired by the end of 2014.
