Stephen C. Van Arsdell Named Chairman and CEO of Deloitte LLP's Audit and Enterprise Risk Services Subsidiary
NEW YORK, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte LLP today announced that Stephen C. Van Arsdell has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte & Touche LLP (Deloitte & Touche), the accounting, auditing, capital markets and risk advisory subsidiary of Deloitte LLP. Van Arsdell's appointment was ratified by the partners and principals of Deloitte & Touche.
Van Arsdell, who most recently served as deputy chief executive officer of Deloitte & Touche with responsibility for the professional practice network, succeeds Nick Tommasino, who has served as chairman and CEO of Deloitte & Touche since 2006. Tommasino will become a vice chairman of Deloitte LLP and serve as advisory partner to several of Deloitte's top clients.

Van Arsdell brings more than 35 years of experience to his new role as chairman and CEO of Deloitte & Touche. He has served as the lead client service partner to some of Deloitte's most prominent clients across various sectors, including aerospace and defense, manufacturing, financial services and consumer products. Van Arsdell has served also as a member and vice-chairman of the board of directors of Deloitte LLP.

Enterprise risk services assist clients in identifying, assessing, and addressing uncertainties related to strategic, financial, and operational and technology risks. Enterprise risk services professionals also play an important role in the delivery of audit services as technology and risk specialists.
A resident of Naperville, Illinois, Van Arsdell earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Illinois. He remains active with the University of Illinois serving on the advisory council to the Dean of the College of Business, on the board of directors of the College of Business Alumni Association, as well as on the finance and audit committees of the University's Alumni Association. Van Arsdell also serves various community organizations and has worked extensively with the Naperville-based Conservation Foundation, for which he is a past chairman and remains a member of its board of trustees.
Prior to joining Deloitte & Touche, Van Arsdell worked for the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) as a member of the technical research staff and as a technical assistant to the board's chairman.
