NEW YORK, March 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Scholastic (NASDAQ: SCHL), the global children's publishing, education and media company, today announced the appointment of Stephanie Smirnov as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Corporate Communications.
Based in New York and jointly reporting to Richard Robinson, Chairman, President and CEO of Scholastic and Iole Lucchese, Chief Strategy Officer, Stephanie will be the key driver of communications in support of the Scholastic mission to support every child in their pathway to literacy. Her role includes overseeing all media relations, financial and internal communications, and social media as well as managing the overall alignment of Scholastic messaging globally. Stephanie will help grow the Company's reputation as a thought leader with longstanding corporate initiatives such as the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge™ and the Kids & Family Reading Report™. She will also focus on increasing awareness of iconic Scholastic publishing brands and respected education resources from Clifford the Big Red Dog® and Dog Man to Junior Scholastic® and Guided Reading.

Stephanie brings over 20 years of strategic communications and brand reputation experience to Scholastic, with a track record of success helping marketers and business leaders more effectively engage their stakeholders in the modern communications landscape. She has held leadership roles on both the agency and corporate side, most recently as Managing Director, Brand Practice at Edelman New York, where she oversaw the largest consumer marketing practice in Edelman's worldwide network. Prior to Edelman, Stephanie served as CEO for the U.S. region of DeVries Global; earlier in her career she held leadership roles on communications teams at L'Oréal USA and Donna Karan International.
