Step Aside Spectators...Club Med Sandpiper Bay Launches Body & Mind Weeks
Guests get their game on with expert sports training while finding balance with nutritional coaching and restorative spa workshops
MIAMI, April 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Club Med, the pioneer of the all-inclusive resort concept, is launching "Body & Mind Weeks" at its Club Med Sandpiper Bay resort in south Florida from May 6 - 30. Florida's only all-inclusive resort, already famous for its sports Academies and pro instruction, will now be hosting a month-long program focused on highlighting our resort's most popular sports and instruction for tennis, golf, volleyball and fitness.
Nestled along the St. Lucie River, a stone's throw from West Palm Beach, FL, the multi-sport resort center comprised of 20 tennis courts, an 18-hole on-site golf course and several sports academies provides the ideal location to master favorite sports or learn new ones. The Body & Mind Weeks are designed to highlight Club Med Sandpiper Bay's unique know-how in sports coaching, especially through the expertise of Club Med Academies. These weeks will combine pro training and sports demonstrations with leaders in tennis, golf, fitness and volleyball. Each sport of our key Academies will be emphasized during a dedicated day each week with seminars, cooking sessions and classes on healthy eating and relaxation including workshops led by L'Occitane Spa therapists – designed to teach guests how to unwind.
SPORTS
More than 20 internationally-renowned coaches across a variety of sports are leading dedicated sessions focused on one sport each day of the week. Guests may choose tennis, golf, volleyball and fitness (think swimming, running, spinning, boot camp classes). A few of the featured coaches and pros include:
- Scott Del Mastro - Tennis coach and Mental Performance Coach to athletes on U.S. and world circuits for more than 20 years
- Don Law – Award-winning Founder and Director of one of the largest golf training programs in the U.S.
- Marie-Claire de Bortoli – The 2005 LPGA Teacher of the Year and one of LPGA's top 50 instructors
- Albert Hannemann - Volleyball Olympic Gold Medalist and Founder of the National Volleyball League (NVL)
- Karolina Sowala - #1 ranked player on the National Volleyball League Tour
In addition to training lessons, demonstrations, performance reviews and exhibitions by leading sports brands, guests are invited to mingle with coaches and pros during nightly cocktail receptions.
NUTRITION
Knowing that a healthy diet allows athletes to maximize exercise and their game, Club Med Sandpiper Bay's team of internationally-trained chefs and health specialists will be hosting sessions to address healthier eating habits. A "specialty corner" will also be set up at the buffet with healthy & nutrition rich meals. On top of it all, cooking classes and seminars on healthy eating highlight how nutrition enhances athletic performance overall. After breaking a sweat on the tennis courts, learning a new breathing technique in a running clinic or putting the right spin on a volleyball serve, guests can hone their skills in the kitchen.
WELLNESS
Recovering from a full day at play keeps athletes in top shape. While chair massage demonstrations will be held during each week as a sampling to some of the treatments offered at Club Med Spa by L'Occitane, therapists will lead three workshops so guests can focus on what's most important to them via facial, body, and massage clinics. For those who would like to restore sore muscles after a long day of training, relaxing and rejuvenating treatments are available at the Spa at an additional cost as well.
