StemGenex Steps Up to Support Walk MS
LA JOLLA, Calif., April 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- StemGenex Medical Group, an organization committed to helping people achieve optimum health and better quality of life through the healing benefits of their own stem cells, has stepped up as a Diamond Sponsor to support the Walk MS events in San Diego and Carlsbad. The San Diego event will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at NTC Park, Liberty Station with check in at 7:00 a.m. and the walk beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Carlsbad event on Saturday, April 22, 2017 convenes at Armada Drive overlooking the Flower Fields, with check in at 4:00 p.m. and the walk at 5:00 p.m. In addition to its sponsorship, StemGenex will donate a tricycle for each event.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society mobilizes people and resources so that everyone affected by the disease can live their best lives. Last year alone the society's comprehensive nationwide network of services devoted $122.2 million to connect more than one million individuals to people, information, and resources. To move closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested $54 million to support more than 380 new and ongoing research projects around the world.
According to the Society, the disease is thought to affect more than 2.3 million people worldwide, that number may be a significant under estimate since MS is not a reportable disease and no centralized reporting system exists at this time. Also, MS can be difficult to diagnose. Since there is no single test for MS, the diagnosis can be missed, delayed or even incorrect.
The Walk MS events are positioned to increase awareness about the disease. The walk encourages people affected by this disease to team up with friends, loved ones, and co-workers to change the world for everyone affected by MS.
"We're truly honored to serve as a Diamond Sponsor to support the MS Walks in San Diego and Carlsbad," said Rita Alexander, StemGenex Medical Group's Chief Administrative Officer. "We're excited and hopeful about the innovative research and progress related to stem cell therapy for slowing the progression of MS and for repairing damage to the nervous system. At StemGenex, I personally have witnessed how the use of adipose-derived stem cells (from fat tissue) have improved the quality of life for many patients seen for this condition. We're honored to be an increasing part of the solution."
