StemGenex Applauds Kelly Osbourne for Supporting Stem Cell Therapy
LA JOLLA, Calif., May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, singer-turned-TV personality Kelly Osbourne, went public about her struggle with Lyme disease, which is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, the infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Osbourne, who was infected in 2013, wasn't properly diagnosed until 2014, months after suffering a seizure while filming an episode of E!'s Fashion Police show, when doctors claimed her collapse had been caused by epilepsy.
Osbourne stated she did her own research into her ailments and discovered she was actually struggling with Lyme disease, and promptly sought out alternative treatment to help her overcome the illness. Her search led her to Frankfurt, Germany, where she underwent stem cell therapy.
"I got cured," Osbourne claimed. Now she's on a mission to change the conversation about stem cell therapy and make it more widely available and affordable to others less fortunate.
"We at StemGenex applaud Kelly Osbourne for her outspoken support of stem cell therapy," said Rita Alexander, the organization's Chief Administrative Officer. "At StemGenex, we have witnessed how the use of adipose-derived stem cells (from fat tissue) have improved the outcome of many patients with a variety of auto-immune diseases, including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. We have testimonies from many patients over the years who have touted the benefits of stem cell therapy, which we combine with an integrated healthcare approach."
In 2016, the use of stem cell therapy in the United States received excellent news with the passage of 21st Century Cures Act, a landmark piece of legislation focused on medical innovation and medical research. Signed into law by President Obama, this Act provides the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with the flexibility to accelerate how it evaluates regenerative medicine treatments, such as stem cell therapies, while maintaining its high standards of safety and efficacy.
"We stand united with individuals like Kelly Osbourne who have found relief from debilitating diseases through the use of stem cell therapy. While we remain committed to advancing the science of stem cell therapy through clinical studies, we are encouraged every day by the improvement we see in the patients who come through our doors."
