ORANGE, Calif., Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Motor Press Guild, Southern California's membership-based organization of automotive journalists, publicists and analysts, and the largest association of its kind in the U.S., is proud to announce the Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI) will sponsor its popular annual Track Days driving event held in October at Willow Springs Raceway.
SMDI increases the use of steel by developing and communicating innovative materials and designs. The organization works to differentiate steel based on its environmental performance and demonstrate steel as the highest value material in the automotive, construction and packaging markets.
This year, MPG's annual Track Days will be held October 4-5 at the "Big Willow" track. Automotive manufacturers support the event by providing new vehicles for MPG journalist members to drive, enabling them to spend considerable time behind-the-wheel in preparation for filing stories and reports. Track Days is always an important opportunity to network as well.
"We are very honored to have the Steel Market Development Institute and its investor steel producers support our membership programs," stated Jason Fogelson, President of the MPG.
"We look forward to having them join us during our two-day event and spend time with all our journalists and automotive partners."
"As one of the largest automotive media associations, we look forward to partnering with the Motor Press Guild and seeing the large mix of vehicles at the event" said Jody Hall, vice president, automotive market for SMDI. "Whether a truck, SUV or compact vehicle, driving is a critical part of everyday life and automakers are looking at their carbon footprint in an effort to meet CAFE requirements and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are bringing awareness to consumers and the media on the environmental benefits of advanced high-strength steels."
The MPG is the largest automotive media association in North America. This exclusive, non-profit organization is dedicated to upholding the highest ideals in automotive journalism and promoting education and information exchange within the motoring press.
