Christopher J. Murphy, GHSA's Immediate Past Chairman and Director of the California Office of Highway Safety, will be speaking during the second panel, discussing state enforcement. He will discuss the effects of California's distracted driving law enforcement efforts and also touch on the results of efforts in other states. California has been among the most aggressive states in enforcing texting and handheld cell phone bans.
GHSA Executive Director Barbara Harsha notes, "GHSA applauds NTSB for bringing together experts to discuss this important issue. Examining the effects of existing state laws will help us determine how to best curb distracted driving in the future. There is still much that we do not know about driver distraction and forums such as this will help us piece together the puzzle."
